Guilds of the Grove & Game Differentiation
As promised, the third and final medium on guild structure is here! As it’s been nearly two weeks since the previous two were published, it would be a good plan for all congregation members to review the preceding articles.
This piece will briefly delve into how each guild will differ in terms of the in-game experience, and the strengths and weaknesses each will offer to players. The hope is that this will provide a more utilitarian rationale from which to make a decision on which guild to initiate with.
Please note that all exact mechanics are being finalized and are subject to change, as we find the correct balance.
Dryari Conclave
The Dryari are devout and loyal to the Ancient One above all things. To them, the pscillion and all its associated life forms are sacred. In game, their earning rate for PSCI will be lower than that of other guilds, but they will be able to generate the same products using smaller quantities. However, due to their naturalistic ways, they will take longer to produce those items.
Order of the Crimson Guard
The utilitarian and harsh nature of the Crimson Guard lends itself to their use of the pscillion: they ravage the soils in pursuit of resources, earning pscillion rapidly and in turn producing items with it faster than any other guild. The quality of crafted items however, will in general be below that of those made by other guilds.
Vaccai Conservancy
Keen minds result in innovative and streamlined production processes: The Vaccai are intended to be granted the ability to craft higher quality items in general, and at a faster pace, albeit at the cost of slightly more pscillion than other guilds.
Ranks of Ascension
In order to organize each guild, and by extension, the entire congregation, guilds will have a series of ranks that members can attain through continued engagement/demonstration of initiative in pursuit of each guild’s responsibilities.
Initially the core team and seed handlers will be tasked with identifying candidates who’ve demonstrated their right to advance, but over time a selection process will be established to allow self-regulation. This will be expanded and developed on over time.
The Ranks
Initiate (entry-level)
Disciple (low ranking active member)
Counselor (high ranking active member)
Guild Master (highest rank- reserved for 1–2 members per guild)
Initiation Rites
Prior to the opening of the guild initiation, an announcement will be made alerting the congregation to the finalization of new sections and channels within the Discord. These will pertain to guild initiation submissions, and for those approved, guild-specific channels available only to those with soon-to-be-created guild roles.
As discussed in the first medium article, the initiation rites for each guild will have two options, only one of which must be performed to request acceptance to a guild.
Dryari
Perform missionary work by recruiting two additional members of the congregation (verified in the #Guild application channel)
Prove community engagement through screenshots of real conversations in at least 5 discord channels
Vaccai Conservancy
Demonstrate resourcefulness through submitting new art, stickers, memes, or videos for the congregation’s use
Find an outside organization, group, or tool (a tool like a discord bot, or a connection in another group, DAO, or other such org) and refer them to the team with a detailed explanation of/proposal for how they could be beneficial to advancing the cause
Order of the Crimson Guard
Help to establish the Order’s authority by harnessing pscillion resources- demonstrate having staked all saplings in ownership
Present proof of a new purchase of a floor sapling (though higher rarity/price saplings may count as well).
As soon as a week-long period has been granted for guild initiation to be completed, each guild will begin carrying out their respective duties — this will be rolled out sequentially and with care, with extensive guidance from the core team to ensure there isn’t too much initial stress or confusion.
