The Vaccai — Never Again
Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
The conviction of the Vaccai emerges from their harrowing past. Long ago, they were forced into a violent civil war in an attempt to rectify the mistakes of a few within their society. Generations later, their numbers have yet to even barely recover — and some of their most prized technology was lost to the ages, forever. And all for what? The sake of pride?
The Vaccai’s motivation can be summarised in a single statement, ‘Never again!’ Their goal is to improve and share their technology for the betterment of all people. Most welcome the technological gifts granted by the Vaccai, including the Dryari, who are very interested in what the Vaccai are able to achieve with Pscillion crystals.
Pscillion was unknown to the Vaccai when they first stumbled upon the planet which the Ancient One resides. Their detection systems showed signs of life, and they sent ships bearing technological offerings to the Dryari, the most prominent native intelligent species. However, the conclave politely declined the gifts, as their naturalistic technologies were sufficient to satisfy their way of life, forever tuned in harmony to the chorus of the Ancient One. The Vaccai encountered the Ancient One’s presence and were humbled by her vast wisdom and seemingly benevolent nature.
The Ancient one acknowledged the Vaccai’s shared desire to learn and grow. The Vaccai subsequently obtained access to pscillion crystals and quickly realised that the crystals held immense power that could be harnessed for the betterment of the entire universe. A power that could be accessed through harvesting byproducts from the growth and life cycles of rare and exotic biospecimens on the planet.
They have since developed unconventional technology for growing plants and working with pscillion. Their method of plant production costs more, but the benefit is a much greater yield. The resources gained from fruiting plants is astounding, and often the envy of the other guilds.

Their nursery and growth room resemble a sterile laboratory to mitigate against biological contaminants, and machines are utilised at all levels of production including the enrichment of plants with pscillion. The Vaccai don’t have to deal with most of the small herbivorous pests that the Dryari cherish, though these aren’t the only animals in the Ancient One’s domain that they have to contend with….
